CONDUCT:

  1. Amateur volleyball is for the fun, fellowship, enjoyment and recreation for the Christian community and surrounding area. Any display of unsportsman like conduct will not be tolerated. Should any person connected with any team be guilty of this type of conduct, a forfeit may be declared in favor of the team not at fault.
  2. Cursing or any type of foul language is prohibited. One warning will be given as a yellow card. Second offense will count as a red card. A red card equals ejection from the game. Yellow or red cards award possession or point to the opponent.
  3. In the event that any player is ejected from any two games during the season, he/she will not be allowed to participate in the game following the second ejection. If any player accumulates 3 ejections during the season, he/she will be barred from the league.
  4. The referees/line judges should be treated with respect at all times. The calls made are final. No arguing with the calls. Any discussion or clarification of the call with the referee will be performed only by the designated coach/captain of the team. Thanks!

APPEARANCE:

  1. League T-shirts must be worn by each player to identify them as WCAA league players. All players must have shirts no later than the second week of the season.
  2. For your safety, no jewelry is allowed. Please remove all rings, earrings, watches, bracelets, necklaces, etc.
RULES:
  1. All payments must be received before taking the court of the first game of the season. One check per team, cash or credit card payment online.
  2. USVBA rules will be in effect unless amended by changes or modifications.
  3. Depending on the number of teams that sign up, WCAA will have two to four levels of play from Powerball Competitive to Recreational Non Competitive and variations in between.
  4. Only one substitution per serve per team may be made. The substitute must enter the game in the back-center position. In case of injury, substitutes may come in for the injured player. The injured player will not reenter that game.
  5. Each team is allowed one (1) 30 second time-out per game.
  6. The winner of a coin toss will choose to serve or side of court. Service will alternate in remaining games.
  7. Teams can have two (2) men and two (2) women to start the game. There can never be less than (2) women on the court and no more than (3) men on the court at any time. The standard and preferred 6-player co-ed line-up is three (3) men and three (3) women. <
  8. One match will consist of (3) 25 rally point games Teams must win by two (2) points. Third game (15 rally points) is optional if time is limited.
  9. The serving order and positions on the court at service shall be male and female alternating.
  10. A served ball that hits the net and continues over is IN play.
  11. When the ball is played more than once by a team, a female player shall make one of the contacts, or it is a side-out. Contact of the ball during blocking shall not constitute playing the ball. There is no requirement for a male player to contact the ball, regardless of the number of hits by a team. There is a maximum of three contacts to return the ball.
  12. A player, who contacts the ball or is contacted by the ball, shall be considered as having played the ball.
  13. When the ball visibly comes to rest momentarily in the hands or arms of a player, it is considered as having been held. Scooping, lifting, pushing, or carrying the ball shall be considered to be a form of holding. A spike that is "pushed" over the net will be illegal in our league.
  14. A ball landing or touching on a boundary line is considered "IN".
  15. It is a foul to touch the net with any part of body or uniform. However, it is not considered a foul if the ball or opposing team drives the net into you. <
  16. Contacting the opponent's area with a foot or feet is a fault. Touching the opponent's area with a foot or feet is not a fault providing that some part of the encroaching foot or feet remains on or above the centerline.
  17. In returning the ball, a player may follow through over the net providing he/she first contacts the ball on his/her side of the net. Player(s) in act of blocking may reach across the net but may not contact the ball there until an opponent has contacted the ball (hit/pass/set) to return it.
  18. The first game will begin with a prayer. A representative of the home team will lead the prayer. Both teams and coaches should participate.
  19. Participants in The Woodlands Christian Athletic Association Church Coed Volleyball League should be regular attendees of the respective team's church. If not, the player should be actively seeking participation in the church and the church team is using the WCAA sports event as an integral part of the church's outreach program. Exceptions to this rule require The Woodlands Christian Athletic Association's approval.
  20. Typically all matches will start on time. Team warm-ups occur 10 minutes prior to start time. If needed, one or both teams can request a 5-minute grace period before the start of the first game. The grace period can be used for a team to wait for a roster player before they start a game short or have to forfeit. The game will be forfeited if the team is not ready at 5 minutes past start time. A team may request a second grace period of 5 minutes for the second game. The Second game will be forfeited and the opposing team will win the match if the forfeiting team is not ready at 10 minutes past start time. If both teams do not fulfill the game start requirements, both will forfeit the game.
  21. Remember, this is a Christian Sports league. Some of the important issues that need to be shared, but are probably obvious to all of us, and are particular to our league and league bylaws are as follows: All adult (18 years of age) church members are eligible for play in the power ball, intermediate and recreational levels. Junior level is for grades 7th -12th. No player will be told not to, or prevented from hitting a ball or from participating in the sport for any reason. No church member will be prohibited from playing on your team in the WCAA games unless you and the church have determined that the player should not participate for some reason. If a player is injured and in danger of further injury, please use your best discretion and remove them from the game when you feel it is appropriate. If it is within your skill level, do not "pick on" a player that has proven to be a "weak spot" on the opposing team. Although this is a game of momentum, please try not to destroy a team's enthusiasm for the game by running the points too high. We do not want anyone going home feeling "beat up". We do not consider serious "vengeance" games or any serious discussion of "getting even" with another team to be appropriate behavior in this league. Please coach, prepare, and organize your teams with these and similar issues in mind.
